Khaled Hosseini

Khaled Hosseini  (Kabul, March 4, 1965) is an Afghan novelist and doctor, and naturalized as a United States citizen. He is the author of the best-seller romance, The Kite Runner. He was born in the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul. His mother was a teacher in a girl’s high school in Kabul. His father was involved in the Afghan Foreign Ministry. In 1970, the Foreign Ministry sent his family to Teheran, Iran, where his father worked for the Afghan Embassy. In 1973, Hosseini and his family returned to Kabul. In July 1973, on the same night Hosseini’s youngest brother was born, the kingdom of Afghanistan changed hands in a bloodless coup.
