The Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL), founded in 1946, has the mission to support the major objectives of its associates – today, there are more than 670 – and expand the Brazilian publishing market by democratizing access to books and promoting actions to disseminate and encourage reading. To accomplish this mission in an adequate manner, the body developed strategies focused on promoting reading and strengthening the publishing market, anchoring them on three well defined and complementary axis: political actions capable of guaranteeing an institutional voice and influence for a sector with major impact on the dissemination of knowledge and culture; development of the book business in all segments of the production chain; and wide support to associates, not only by providing important services, but also by giving them a voice through a representative body.
