One of the innovations of the 21st International Book Biennial of São Paulo, the Teacher Space, was conceived with the objective of contributing to the qualification of teachers from public and private primary and secondary schools, for them to develop book activities and reading in classrooms.

The workshops “How to select books for my students and my school?” were formatted with the objective of giving the teacher instruments regarding the criteria of book selection, in the formation of his repertoire and in the development of play activities with his students, stimulating them to develop taste for reading.

Coordination of the Teacher Space: Professor Marisa Lajolo

She has a Literature degree from Universidade de São Paulo, where she also earned a Master and Doctorate degree. Marisa Lajolo received her PhD degree from Brown University. She is a professor at Unicamp and Universidade Mackenzie. She has published several works about reading in Brazil. She coordinated the theme project that worked with the Monteiro Lobato documentation deposited at Unicamp. 2009 Jabuti Award of best book on Literary Theory and best non-fiction book of 2009.
